The fine grit, Bates Arkansas sharpening stone is used to sharpen curettes, bone curettes, elevators and explorers. Four round grooves of 1 mm, 2 mm, 4 mm and 8 mm in diameter are used for sharpening the toe and rounding the back of curettes. Excavators and surgical curettes can also be sharpened with the Bates stone. The flat side of the stone can be used on lateral surfaces of scalers. Lubricate stone with oil.
